On Tuesday, March 12, 2024 the Lord called home an honorable veteran, dedicated husband, father and PowPow, and talented mandolin player in Tim Sexton, at the age of 63. Born on September 14, 1960 in Willard, Ohio, he was the son of Velman and Chelsea (Barton) Sexton.
Tim was a 1979 graduate of Willard High School who went on to serve his country for 6 years in the US Navy. He was a fleet ballistic sub mariner aboard the USS James K. Polk. He held various management and sales positions for numerous employers. He also attended Storyside Church in Bellville, Ohio.
Blessed with musical talents, Tim was known for playing his guitar and mandolin and loved to listen to Blue Grass music. Weekends in the fall consisted of him watching the Buckeyes on Saturday and the Browns on Sunday. Tim took pride in making sure his landscaping was perfect, could tell the best stories and enjoyed putting a smile on your face. Most of all, spending time with his family and being the best PowPow to his grandkids was most important to him.
On June 14, 1986, Tim married the love of his life, Sandra (Robinson) Sexton and she survives along with their three boys, Nicholas (Bekah), Adam (Jill) and Andrew (Jess); seven grandchildren who absolutely adored him, Kolten, Amery, Ashlynn, Mia, Gatlin, Nova and Charlie; father, Velman Sexton; four brothers, Logan (Melinda) Sexton, Volon (Nancy) Sexton, Travon (Sandy) Sexton, Van (Jeanette) Sexton; sister, Narda (Randy) Osborne; many loving nieces and nephews; and father-in-law, John Robinson.
Tim was preceded in death by his mother, Chelsea Sexton; sister, Marcella Ayres; brother, Arvis Sexton; and mother-in-law, Lois Robinson.
Family and friends may visit at the Willard Church of God in Willard, Ohio on Friday, March 15, 2024 from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Tim’s funeral service will be held at the Secor Funeral Home in Willard on Saturday, March 16, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. with Bishop Greg Griffith officiating. Full military honors will be presented at the funeral home following the service. Memorial contributions can be made to Mansfield Veterans Affairs. I just found out about this today. I graduated with Timmy and have known him since 7th grade. He always had a smile, a laugh and a hug and there wasn't a mean bone in his body. Someone has just earned a very special guardian angel.

It was certainly sad news to hear about Tim’s passing. I always enjoyed chatting with him whenever we happened to cross paths, and I know he will be greatly missed. So very sorry to hear of Tim's passing. I was privileged to serve with Tim aboard the USS James K Polk in the mid-80's. I am proud to call Tim shipmate and friend. Tim made significant contributions to the success of our Patrols during that period. I was honored to be invited to Tim and Sandy's Wedding in June '86; we had a wonderful weekend in Willard and Sandusky. Many great memories of our time stationed at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard in NH. Rooting for the Browns during Kosar's heydey, and enjoying a memorable tailgater or two in Foxboro. I am thankful for making the trip to Maine in summer '22 to spend some time with Tim and Sandy. Rest in peace Brother; we will miss you very much.

Who didn’t love Tim. He brightened everyone with his smile and positive attitude. While he was working at Lowes, I heard him talk to people and ended the conversation with, hey why don’t you come visit my church. Can you imagine all the people he invited? I’ve know him and his family since 3rd grade at Steuben. I am in shock and saddened, my heartbreaks for his family. Prayers for comfort and strength that only the Lord can provide. Our loss is Heavens gain. I can picture him in Heaven having the time of his life. No doubt he has everyone entertained singing and playing music.
