Thomas “Thom” L. Veletean, age 76, of Attica, Ohio passed away peacefully on July 23, 2024 at the Cleveland Clinic surrounded by his loving family. He was born on July 8, 1948, in Willard, Ohio to the late Samuel and Geneva (Haas) Veletean.

Thom was a graduate of Willard High School, where he then went on to serve our country in the United States Army. After the military, he worked at CSX for many years, where he later retired from. Thom was an avid hunter who was also a proud member of the Pheasants Forever. He took enormous pride in his children and grandchildren. Thom never missed one of his grandchildren’s events from athletics, FFA, quizbowl, 4H, dance, musical events, awards banquets and every major life event in between. Thom expressed his love to his family by preparing the best menus, while cooking and grilling them fantastic food.

Thom is survived by his loving wife, Mary (Enders) Veletean who he married on August 6, 1993; children, Laurie (Gary) Shellhouse of Sycamore, Sherri (Masami) Adachi of Attica, Penny (Dave) Daniel of Attica, Tammy (Steve) Heal of Attica and Kurt (Keren) Keaton of Centerburg; grandchildren, Kirsten (Shane) Rodabaugh, Ashton (Jordan) Bowerman, Jarred Shellhouse, Seina Adachi, Addison (Nathan) Snavely, Breawna Heal, Marina Adachi, Elijah Heal, Ava Keaton, Mia Keaton, Alexis Keaton, and Quinn Keaton; great grandchildren, Barrett and Bexley Bowerman, Lakyn and Hayes Snavely and Ella Rodabaugh; brother, Jack (Phyllis) Veletean; sister-in-law, Linda Veletean; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Sophia Keaton; and brother, Michael Veletean.

Calling hours will be on Monday, July 29, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. until the start of Thom’s funeral mass beginning at 1:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church in Attica, Ohio with Father Joseph Joseph officiating. The rosary will be recited a half hour before the funeral begins. Burial will be at St. Peter and Paul Cemetery in Attica, Ohio where military honors will be conducted. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church or Seneca East Athletic Boosters or Attica Sons of the American Legion. I was saddened to learn of Thom’s passing. I have so many fond memories of time spent in his company through HS, hunting, and working together on the RR. I had the privilege to have had Thom as my friend. My heart felt condolences go out to his entire family 😞

My deepest condolences to all of the family. Thom was a good friend starting in our childhood years and that friendship has continued all the years. He had a heart of gold, and will surely be missed by all who knew and loved him.
