Samuel Ford, age 72, resident of New Washington, Ohio, passed away on Friday, October 15, 2004 at his home, following a battle with cancer. He was born on March 26, 1932 to the late Samuel Ford and Margery (Lowe) Farver and had been a Crawford County resident most of his life. A 1951 graduate of Crestline High School, he played center on the Bulldogs football team. He was a member of the St. John’s Lutheran Church in New Washington, OH. He was a retired license examiner for the State Highway Patrol. A veteran of the US Army, he served in Germany during the Korean Conflict. He was a member and past commander of Colonel Crawford Post #181 American Legion in Bucyrus. He enjoyed playing golf, was a Buckeye Central Sports fan and most of all, he loved his family.
He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Marlene Ford of New Washington; four daughters and son-in-laws, Linda and Danny Jones of North Robinson, OH, Mary and Jeff Cochran of Caledonia, OH, Melissa and Jim Shade of New Washington, OH, and Deana and Dale Fruth of Bucyrus, OH; one son and daughter-in-law, Ted and Jeanie Fike of New Washington, OH; seven grandchildren, Danelle Rahm, Dustin Jones, Joel Butt, Tyler and Jacob Shade, and Emily and Allen Fruth; three great grandchildren, Alison and Noah Trease and Jacob Rahm; two brothers, Jim and Sam Ford; and one sister-in-law, Rose Ford. He was preceeded in death by his parents, Samuel Ford and Margery (Lowe) Farver and his step father, Harry Farver.
Friends may call at the Secor Funeral Home in New Washington on Sunday from 2-4 PM. Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday at St. John’s Lutheran Church in New Washington with Rev. Joseph Bartczak officating. Burial at the St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery in New Washington, OH.
