Robert M. Harrer, age 92, life long resident of New Washington, Ohio, passed away on Sunday, April 22, 2018 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born on October 7, 1925 in Crawford, Ohio to the late Jesse and Bertha (Geissman) Harrer. Bob was a 1943 graduate of New Washington High School and had gone on to proudly serve in the U.S. Army during WWII, Pacifica Theater in Japan. Bob was a dairy farmer until 1988, but had always continued farming. He was an active member of the New Washington Methodist Church, a member of the Ohio Holstein Association, Farm Bureau, New Washington American Legion, where he was past commander, a 4-H advisor, and part of the Card Club, where he enjoyed playing pinochle for over 50 years. Bob was also an avid dancer.

Bob is survived by his wife, Marilyn (Crum) Harrer, whom he married on October 4, 1952; a son, Steve (Cindy) Harrer of New Washington; a daughter, Kathy (Terry) Fisher of Marion; 7 grandchildren, Alison (Ben) Coole, Christy (Ryan) McDiffitt, Lindsay (Micah) Hamrick, Kirk Fisher, Kyle Fisher, Kristian (Miquah) Fisher, Kole Fisher; 7 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 5 siblings and their spouses, Lulu (Ed) Hieber, Herb (Rowena) Harrer, Earl (Jenny) Harrer, Lois (Arlo) Lutz, and Wanda (Calvin) Kurtz.

Friends may gather at the New Washington United Methodist Church in New Washington on Saturday, April 28, 2018 from 10:00 AM - 12:00 Noon, where funeral services will be at 12:00 PM with Rev. Steve Osborne officiating. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery, Sulphur Springs. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Gideon's, The United Methodist Church, or The Home Care Matters Hospice. Marilyn, You and Bob were as much my family as my own. I would never have found my love for dairying without Bob and Earl. Bob was responsible for me working for NOBA and all that followed. He was such a great example as to how to love life. If I messed up on the farm he would cover for me. Margaret grew to love him as much as I. We will all have our own fond memories of our time with him.
