Robert E. Floro, age 71, resident of Shelby, passed away on Saturday, August 20, 2005 at his home. He was born on April 2, 1934 in Port Clinton, Ohio, to the late Orlared and Edith (Austine) Floro and had been a Shelby resident most of his life. He was a former crane and pipe welder at Copper Weld Tubing in Shelby. He was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Plymouth and a member of the United Steel Workers Union # 3057. He was a US Navy Veteran serving during the Korean War. He was also a loving Husband and Father who enjoyed fishing and boating at Lake Erie.
He is survived by his wife, Rita Mary (Miller) Floro; two sons, Robert Douglas Floro of Shelby and Adam R. Floro of Shelby; four daughters, Pat Underwood of Crestline, Ohio, Christine Wheeler of Cleveland, Brenda and Mike Reed of Shelby, and Angie Floro of Shelby; eight grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; two sisters, Kathy Harding of Matula, OH and Frances Wilkins of Oak Harbor, Ohio; one brother, Jerry Floro of Columbus; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Charles Floro and three sisters, Marcella Louise Floro, Viviane Brown and Margrie Wilkins.
Friends may call at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Plymouth on Tuesday, August 23, 2005 from 9:00 – 11:00 AM with a funeral mass to follow at 11:00 AM with Father Stanley Szybka officiating. Burial will follow at the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Shelby, Ohio. Memorial contributions may be made to the family. Secor Funeral Home in Plymouth, Ohio assisted the family with arrangements.
