Penelope “Penny” F. Sheely, age 73, resident of Plymouth, Ohio, passed away on Saturday, November 25, 2023 at OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital. Born on March 16th, 1950 to Mary Wolczyk (nee Cawley) and Stanley Wolczyk in Lorain, Ohio. Penelope spent her formative years in Cleveland, Ohio and Stuttgart, Germany. Penny, as she was lovingly referred to by her friends and family, graduated from Wadsworth High School in 1968. Penny went on to attend Bluffton College where she earned a Bachelor's degree in Education and met the love of her life, Mark Sheely. After graduation Penny and Mark eventually settled in Plymouth, Ohio with their four children: David, Christopher, Patrick and Lexington. During her 35 years of teaching in the Madison School District, Penny taught Home Economics and Grads. Penny had a profound effect on thousands of students while making lifelong friends.
Penny did everything with gratitude, grace, and generosity, and was quick to make friends everywhere she went. She loved to travel and went around the world many times with her family, the People to People program, the Bluffton girls, beloved cousins, and her best friends. Penny LOVED Disney World and would take anyone who wanted to go, sharing the magic was her favorite part.
Penny loved hosting parties and did so frequently, always preparing many of her signature dishes and wonderful desserts, all of which would frequently accompany her favorite dessert - ice cream. She volunteered for the women’s auxiliary at Mansfield hospital and loved her book club. She was a foundation of strength and affection. She could never get a punchline correct but was constantly laughing. Penny loved watching sports, from the Olympics to cheering on the Buckeyes, Browns, and Guardians; however, her favorite athletes were always her grandchildren. She was everyone’s biggest cheerleader and was always encouraging and yelling “Go Go Go!”
Penny is survived by her brother Stanley (Debbie); children, David (Alisha), Christopher (Pam), Patrick (Kellie), and Lexington (Travis); grandchildren Brooke, Trent, Dean, Joey, Niko, James, & Oliver; nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She will be deeply missed by all that were fortunate to know her.
Family and friends may visit at the Secor Funeral Home in Plymouth on Wednesday, November 29, 2023 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Penny’s funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, November 30, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Dr. Faith Proietti officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery in Plymouth.

Penny was one of the nicest persons I have ever been blessed to meet. Her sense of humor and pride in her husband, children and father made for many wonderful stories. Her laugh was infectious and her attitude was always upbeat. I am proudly one of the BC girls and she will be deeply missed by us all. Prayers for you all.

Sorry to hear about Penny! I had the pleasure of meeting Penny as I have prepared her taxes for a few years! I enjoyed talking to her and she always had great stories about her family! Penny gave me a fancy blue pen a couple years ago and I still have it and use it every tax season! RIP Penny!

Sheely Family, So sorry for your loss. I remember when your dad was principal and your mom would have all of us girls from the Administration office for lunch. It was always a fun time and the food was delicious. She was one of the sweetest and classiest ladies. May she be happy in heaven with Mark once again. Hugs to you all in the days to come.
