Mildred A. Hiler, age 83, resident of New Washington, Ohio passed away on Saturday, December 17, 2016 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born on September 23, 1933 in Bismark, Ohio to the late Walter and Rose (Miller) Brown. Millie was a graduate of Bellevue High School and then worked briefly at the former General Electric Plant in Bellevue. She married Glade A. Hiler on October 23, 1954 and then worked with him on the family farm and raised their family. She was a member of the St. Bernard Catholic Church in New Washington, the Altar and Rosary Society, and the New Washington American Legion Auxiliary. She was an avid Cleveland Indians and Ohio State Buckeyes fan and also enjoyed playing volleyball and bowling and playing cards. We have lost a wife, mother, grandmother and friend who fought cancer as long and as hard as she could. We will not ever say cancer won, it just out lasted her.
She is survived by her husband, Glade A. Hiler, six children, Marsha (Mike) Bowsher of Bellefontaine, Ohio, Mike (Diana) Hiler of Dublin, Ohio, Tim Hiler of St. Johns, FL, Allen (Kim) Hiler of Shelby, Ohio, Trish (Kevin) Carney of Marengo, Ohio, and Randy (Roxanne) Hiler of New Washington; sixteen grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and one sister, Justine Wise of Tiffin, Ohio.
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by three sisters and one brother.
Visitation will be held at the Secor Funeral Home in New Washington, Ohio on Tuesday, December 20, 2016 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday at 11:00 AM at St. Bernard Catholic Church in New Washington with Father Eric Culler officiating. Burial will follow in St. Bernard Catholic Cemetery in New Washington. Memorial contributions can be made to the St. Bernard Catholic Church. Met Millie many years ago when her and Glade came to the CYO dances at St. Bernards. Our hearts are saddened by your loss and our thoughts and prayers are with you.
