Melanie Dawn Kanney, age 48, passed away Sunday, November 15, 2009 at MedCentral Hospital in Mansfield after an extended illness. She was born in Willard, Ohio on August 25, 1961 to Claude and Janet (Barnes) Ousley. She was a 1979 graduate of Willard High School. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church for 15 years. She was a homemaker who enjoyed cooking and sewing, making quilts and comforters.
She is survived by her husband, Edward Kanney, whom she married on February 14, 1981; one son and daughter-in-law, Curtis and Jerusha Kanney of New Washington; one daughter, Hillary Kanney of Willard; one grandson, Alex Kanney of New Washington; her parents, Claude and Janet (Barnes) Ousley of Plymouth; two brothers, Bryan Ousley of Willard and Nathan Ousley of Plymouth; two sisters, Paula Rogers of Willard and Jacalyn Bradley of California; her grandmother, Fern Barnes; her father and mother-in-law, Ed and Marian Kanney of Shelby; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Thomas and Joan Kanney of Shelby and Michael and Laura Kanney of Plymouth; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews; and many good friends with a special thank you to Fred and Donna Nagel.
Friends may call at the Grace United Methodist Church, 108 W. Maple St., Willard on Wednesday, November 18, 2009 from 3-5PM and 7-9PM. Funeral services will be held at the church on Thursday, November 19, 2009 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Doug Winner officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery in Plymouth. Memorial contributions may be made to Grace United Methodist Church or to the family. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.secorfuneralhomes.com

To Melanie’s entire family, I just wanted to say how sorry I was to hear of Melanie’s passing. I know she was an inspiration to many and fought the good fight. I will continue to pray for all of you and may you feel the Lord’s arms wrapped around you during this time and the difficult days ahead.
