Mary Lou Philbrick, age 91, lifelong resident of New Washington, Ohio passed away on Tuesday, August 20, 2024 at her home. She was born on April 12, 1933 in New Washington to the late George and Estella (Tribolet) Peck.

A Buckeye Central High School graduate, Mary Lou was a very dedicated alumna of the school. Her and her husband, affectionately known as Mr. and Mrs. Defense, loved the school and were proud supporters of the sports programs. Mary Lou was a faithful member of the New Washington United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir. She grew up in the church and the Lord was always on her heart.

While some may say Mary Lou enjoyed a quiet life, those close to her would say she always had something going on or somewhere to go. She was active with the local election committees, Golden Gems, American Legion Auxiliary and the Red Hat Society to name a few. At the end of the day, Mary Lou’s family is what she loved the most. She never missed an event and supported all of her family.

She is survived by her four children, Vickie (Dean) Proudfoot, Robert (Cindy) Philbrick, Donald (Robin) Philbrick and David (Leah) Philbrick; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Mary Lou was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Charles R. Philbrick who passed away on February 20, 2022; and her brother and sister-in-law, Willard H. and Madalyn Peck.

Family and friends are invited to visit at the New Washington United Methodist Church, 402 S Center Street, on Sunday, August 25, 2024 from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Mary Lou’s funeral service will be at the church on Monday, August 26, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. James Macdonald and Rev. Pamela Sayre officiating. Burial will follow and she will be laid to rest next to her husband at New Washington Union Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to her family. Online condolences can be left for her family by www.secorfuneralhomes.com.
