Martha Ann Postema, 92, was called home to Heaven on Thursday, March 3rd, 2022. She was a wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. Martha Ann was married to the love of her life on February 8th, 1951. Her husband, Wilford, was by her side until his death in 1992. After nearly thirty years apart, their reunion was certainly one for the ages. She is survived by her daughters Gena (Rob) Williams, Paula (George) Brown, and Amy (Tom) Miller, and her son, Bradley and daughter-in-law, Kelli Curtis Postema; 13 grand-children and 11 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law Lois Phillips and Jean Hofstra, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Linus and Blanche Phillips, and her two brothers, Donald and Leo. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Plymouth, the town she called home for many, many years. She was deeply loved by several special longtime friends.
She loved watching birds on her patio, gardening and growing flowers, auctions and antiques, jigsaw puzzles, card games of nert and euchre, but mostly visits from family and friends. We will always remember those things about her, but what we will remember most is how she made us feel. She was home. Her laugh was contagious; her joy, infectious. To know her was to love her and to be welcomed into her heart and home was one of lifes greatest blessings. She loved the Lord and mirrored His love to everyone around her. Her love of family and strong values set a foundation that her legacy will continue to build upon. She was vibrant, funny, lively, and witty. She was the source of so much laughter for so many years.
While she leaves many broken hearts behind, we know that Heaven is celebrating. She is reunited with her friends and family who have gone before her. She is dancing with Willy and has met her Savior. We will be forever thankful for the time we had on earth with her and we are thankful that she is home, she is healed, she is rejoicing.
Calling hours will be Monday, March 7, 2022 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at the Secor Funeral Home in Plymouth, Ohio. The funeral service will be Tuesday, March 8, 2022 at 11:00 AM at the First Presbyterian Church in Plymouth, Ohio with Pastor Linda Kaufman officiating. Burial will follow at the Maple Grove Cemetery in New Haven, Ohio. Memorial contributions can be made to First Presbyterian Church in Plymouth or the Michael J. Fox Parkinsons Foundation. Mart was always one of my favorite people! Always warm, welcoming, and funny. She and Willy were our first “bosses” in the strawberry patch. They set the bar pretty high! It’s good to think they’re together again. Prayers for you.
