Margaret May Heydinger, age 94, lifelong resident of New Washington, Ohio passed away on Wednesday, February 1, 2023 at her home, surrounded by her family. She was born on May 15, 1928 in New Washington to the late Roma and Isabel (Kichline) Niedermier.

A loving wife and devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Margaret was committed to making sure her family was taken care of. She was known for her delicious cooking and baking; especially her cinnamon rolls and cookies. She enjoyed sewing and crocheting afghans. Margaret also looked forward to the spring time when she could start her beautiful flower garden. A favorite pastime was singing and playing the piano, a passion that started at a young age with her siblings.

Margaret was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church where she was involved with the Rosary Altar Society. She was also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

Margaret is survived by five children and their spouses, Joyce (Tom) Brennan, Ben (Valerie) Heydinger, Roger (Janice) Heydinger, Andrew (Kimberly) Heydinger and Jeanette (Ted) Fike; son-in-law, Rocco Galante; 16 grandchildren, Sarah Shira, David Brennan, Molly Donohue, Jon Brennan, Wesley Barth, Lindsey Haubert, Jessica Felter, Aubrie Heydinger, Rita Klein, Kari Hensley, Adam Heydinger, Paul Heydinger, Rocco T. Galante, Megan Galante, Daniel Fike and David Fike; 16 great grandchildren; four siblings, Annabel Kehres, Gertrude Striker, Kathleen Slayton and Thomas Niedermier; in-laws, Glenn Heydinger, Inez and Dick Gray and Sue Heydinger; numerous nieces and nephews; and friend, Joyce Cramer.

In addition to her parents, Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert “Gib” Heydinger, who she married on June 10, 1950 and passed away on March 28, 2019; one daughter, Jenifer Ann Heydinger Galante; three siblings, Rosemary Kraft, Father Jerome Niedermier and Joseph Niedermier; four brothers-in-law, Muryl Striker, Jerry Slayton, Carl Kehres and Herbert Kraft; sister-in-law, Anna Niedermier; in-laws, Viola (Louis) Karl, Bertha (Robert) Karl, Vera (Howard) Clady, Harold (Frances) Heydinger, Donald Heydinger, Allen Heydinger, Bill (Rose) Heydinger and Mary Ann Heydinger.

Family and friends are invited to visit on Tuesday, February 7, 2023 at the Secor Funeral Home in New Washington from 10:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will start at 12:00 p.m. at St. Bernard Catholic Church in New Washington with burial to follow at St. Bernard Catholic Cemetery. I'm so sorry to learn of my aunt Margaret May's passing. She and Uncle Gib were so welcoming, and I fondly recall a number of visits with my own young children years ago to "help" feed the chickens.
