He and his wife made hundreds of trips with hay and straw to Amish families with whom he became friends. He loved the woods and spent many hours harvesting trees for lumber and fire wood. He spent countless hours teaching his family to appreciate the woods and its value.

For decades, Malcolm taught Sunday School classes at Church of the Master in Steuben where he also served in many other leadership roles. He loved playing ball in the backyard with the family and made time for it, even during the busy season. He was an avid Cleveland Indians fan and a terrific ball player.

Those left behind to cherish his memory are 5 daughters: Linda (Dick) Smith, Patricia (Tom) Miller, Karen Martin, Barbara Smith, Carol Kathleen ‘Kathy’ Smith; eleven grandchildren, Mark (Melissa) Smith, Paul Smith, Erika Miller, Andrea Miller, Nicholas (Karen) Miller, Matt (Stephanie) Martin, Amy (Jeff) Walliser, Stacey (Jason) Sutherland, Laura (Neil) Weaver, Mandi (Ryan) Paseka, and Seth Genter; seventeen great grandchildren; sister, Margaret Ann Rogers; and nieces and nephews.
