Lewis Steele, age 89, of Mansfield, Ohio, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, May 11, 2021. He was born on November 14, 1931, in Plymouth, Ohio, to the late Floyd and Clara (Trauger) Steele. Lewis was a 1949 graduate of Plymouth High School and enjoyed ballroom and square dancing. He was a member of the National Grange, past President and Treasurer of the Olentangy Beagle Club, and was a National Champion Beagler.

Lewis is survived by children, Charles (Karen) Steele of Shelby, OH; Deb (Marty) Hull of Shelby, OH; Don (Mel) Steele of Mansfield, OH; Connie (Enis) Akgerman of Plano, TX; and Ron Steele of Delaware, OH; grandchildren, Patrick (Jamie) Steele of Columbus, OH; Brandon (Amanda) Steele of Obetz, OH; Alison (Adam) Hill of Atlanta, GA; Derek (Katie) Steele of Shelby, OH; Scott (Britni) Hull of Ashland, OH; Brian Hull of Mansfield, OH; Lauren Akgerman of Plano, TX; Matthew Akgerman of Plano, TX; Becky (Derek) Ensman of Mansfield, OH; Jon (Nicole) Gardner of Hilliard; Josh (Kayla) Gardner of Danville, OH; Michelle Mathie of Ashland, OH; Kristi Steele of Millan; Cyndi Gardner of Mansfield; great grandchildren, Victoria Steele, Veronica Steele, Nathan Steele all of Columbus, OH; Morgan Steele and Lexie Steele, both of Obetz, OH; Lincoln Hill of Atlanta, GA; Charles Steele of Shelby, OH; Kallen and Kaylee Hull, both of Ashland, OH; William Daniels, Ryan Gardner and McKenzie Gardner all of Mansfield, OH; Lily Gardner of Danville, OH; Carter Mathie of Ashland; Clayton Steele, Lindsay Steele and Andan Gorsuch all of Milan; and one on the way; a sister, Anna Mae Miller and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by brothers, Lee Steele and Denton Steele; and sisters, Margaret Kessler, Arlene Harrer, Jessie Dorion and Marilyn Gullett.

Per Lewis’ request, there will be no visitation or funeral service at this time. A private burial will take place at Greenlawn Cemetery in Plymouth at a later date.
