Lavoughn Isaac, Age 81, resident of Plymouth, Ohio passed away Saturday, May 18, 2019. He was born November 14, 1937 in Knott County, Kentucky to the late Northern and Melda Harris Isaac. Mr. Isaac retired from MTD after many years of service.

He is survived by four children, Carole (Donald) Gray of Plymouth, Timothy (Lisa) Isaac of Plymouth, Bodina Webb of Plymouth, Brenda Howell of Greenwich; twelve grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; two sisters, Thelma Greathouse of Kentucky, Mable Hart of Florida; and two brothers, Roosevelt (Linda) Isaac of Kentucky, Fred (Phyllis) Osborne of Pataskala; and one brother-in-law, JD Hall of Kentucky.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his loving wife of 61 years: Helen Isaac; a daughter; Penny Trevino; two grandchildren: Bobby Jo and William Barney: a great granddaughter, Desiree Blanton; three brothers: Ray Isaac, Northern Isaac Jr., Lee Average Isaac; and two sisters Beulah Mae Hall, Loretta Isaac.

He went by many titles; dad, papaw, brother lavoughn and even cowboy or tex at times. Many only knew him by his big black cowboy hat, but papaw never knew a stranger. He wasnt afraid to pick on anyone or compliment them either. He loved to bring a smile onto any face. The lucky ones got to know and love papaw beyond the hat and jokes. He was a hard working man that could fix most anything with a little, lets say; southern ingenuity that he was well known for. He was a very proud, respectful and protective man. He carried these titles with pride, but regardless of how you referred to him he was a dad and papaw to anyone.

Papaw, a member of the Little Rebecca, Old Regular Baptist Church, loved his church and his family like no other. He had a bit of a rough texture, but once you got past the cowboy hat, he was a loving caring man. Papaw thought about his family all the time, he loved us all deeply. He especially loved all his grandbabies, thats what he called the babies in the family. All this love and family was possible when he left the hills of Kentucky, married his lady, as he would say, on November 4, 1957. They raised five children modestly, working hard to provide a comfortable family. You never left their home with your belly or heart empty. They raised or help raise many of their grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He did not hesitate to take on the father role as he did when raising Randal and Dana.

He left Kentucky, but his mind and heart never did. He literally kept a suitcase packed in case anyone mentioned going to Kentucky. Papaw loved to make that trip every chance he could, of course he not only loved his Kentucky family but he loved the way they would pet and brag on him. To be honest, anyone who went with him loved it too. I remember a time we turned up the wrong holler looking for a relative and found more relatives. You couldnt walk in store, through an alley, over a hill or even around a rock without running into someone that knew papaw.

Papaw endured a lot of heartache over the last year. Along with his deteriorating health, in the last year he lost mamaw on May 26th, his dear sister Beulah October 10th and his daughter Penny October 25th. His heartbreak was undeniably noticeable. He wanted to go home to be with his lady and his lord. He worried about leaving his grandbabies, but said he is a winner either way. God put him at rest May 18th. No more heartache or pain papaw, take your rest, tell mamaw we love and miss her too.

Visitation will be held at Little Rebecca Old Regular Baptist Church on Tuesday, May 21, 2019 from 6:00 - 8:00 PM. Visitation will continue on Wednesday, May 22, 2019 from 2:00 - 6:00 PM, with a church service at 6:00 PM. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 23, 2019 at 10:00 am, at the Little Rebecca Old Regular Baptist Church with the Elders of the church officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery in Plymouth, Ohio. Online condolences may be expressed to the family by visiting www.secorfuneralhomes.com
