Larry V. “Yuck” Akers, age 79, of Bellevue, Ohio, passed away peacefully at his home surround by his loving family.  He was born on May 11, 1944 in Lackey, Kentucky to the late Hubert and Mabel (Slone) Akers.  Larry was a member of the American Legion SAL, Willard Moose and a lifetime member of the VFW Auxiliary in Avon, Ohio.  He was a purchasing agent for many years at Plymouth Locomotive and for Ziegler Nut and Bolt in Canton.  He and his wife, Critter, recently celebrated 60 years of marriage.

He is survived by his wife, Lucretta “Critter” (Vanderpool) Akers whom he married on November 4, 1963; children, Tammy Wallhead (Dan Osborne) of Willard; Bill (Elizabeth) Akers of Willard; Jill (Rick) Gosselin of Avon, Ohio; and Julie (Shaun) Chandler of Bellevue, Ohio; 16 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; brother, Ronnie (Jamie) Akers; sister, Jeanie Bell; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a son, Rodney Ryan Akers and a granddaughter, Abigail Renee Akers.

There will be a Celebration of Life at the Willard Moose on Saturday, January 6, 2024 starting at 4:00 PM.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society.  Online condolences may be made to Larry’s family by visiting www.secorfuneralhomes.com

To Lucritta and all of Larry’s family. I am very sorry for your loss. It is also heartbreaking for me to say goodbye to my good friend. I loved Larry like a brother. We talked almost every day.
