Larry Martin, age 80, resident of Shiloh, Ohio passed away on Tuesday, April 18, 2023 at his home, surrounded by his family. He was born on December 27, 1942 in Salisbury Branch, Kentucky to the late Berlin and Marie (Slone) Martin.

Larry graduated from Wayland High School in Kentucky and went on to service his country by enlisting in the United States Army. He served for two years in Germany. Upon his return home, Larry moved up to the Richland County area to obtain employment. He worked for and retired from RR Donnelley in 2003. He was a member of the Shiloh American Legion Post 503.

In his spare time, Larry had a particular fondness of eating, grilling and cooking for his family. He also could be found running circles around all the kids during the backyard games. Larry took pride in raising his garden, enjoyed a good game of horseshoes, was a dedicated UK Wildcats fan and loved to watch a good Sci-Fi show or movie. He never said an ill word about anyone and was cared deeply for by others, traits his girls admired about him.

Together with Judy (Compton) Martin, Larry has three surviving daughters, Angela (David) Tittle of Galion, Michelle (Terry) Wilson of Mansfield and Jessica (Andrew) Fike of Plymouth. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, Jeremy Martin, Andrea Brown, Zachary (Yana) Wilson, Derrek (Sarah) Wilson, Joshua Wilson, Tripp (Ashley) Tittle, Grace Brown and Mason Martin; eight great grandchildren, Kaylee, Marlea, Arriah, Amora, Roxy, Peyton, Easton and Colton; three siblings, William (Guena) Martin, Karen (Jim) Jones and Jewell (Kenny) Blair; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his parents, Larry was preceded in death by nine siblings, Beverly Martin, Geraldine Martin, Berleen (Jack) Bowser, Harold Ray Martin, Earnest Martin, Eddie Von Martin, Madison (Sharon) Martin, Ronnie Martin and Sandra Gibson; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Chester and Gladys Compton; brother-in-law, James Holida; niece, Julie (Holida) Stine; and nephews, Eddie Tilden Martin, Jackie Brent Martin and Gary Bowser.

Larry’s family would like to extend a special thank you to the VA of Mansfield, OhioHealth Hospice and HomeCare, great friend and neighbor, Delmar Bailey, and brother-in-law, Harles Gibson for the support and special visits.

Family and friends are invited to visit at the Secor Funeral Home in Plymouth, Ohio on Friday, April 21, 2023 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A graveside service will be held at the family cemetery, Whitt Martin Cemetery in Dema, Kentucky on Sunday, April 23, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. where military honors will also take place. Memorial contributions can be made to the Richland County Veterans Association. Online condolences can be left for the family by visiting www.secorfuneralhomes.com.
