Larry Kenneth Coffey, age 59, resident of Willard, Ohio, passed away on Thursday, February 21, 2008 in Willard Mercy Hospital. He was born on August 7, 1948 in Lackey, KY and had been a resident of Willard most of his life. He attended the University of Kentucky. He was a veteran of the US Marines serving during the Vietnam Era. He was a former Drill Instructor at Parris Island in South Carolina. He was a former truck driver. He attended the Christian Alliance Church in Willard. He enjoyed hunting, gardening, canning, fishing, and cooking. Mr. Coffey loved spending time with his family and friends. Most of all he loved the Lord, he was baptized the summer of 1999.
He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Linda Coffey whom he wed on February 17, 1979 and they renewed their wedding vows the summer of 1995; one son, Nathan Coffey of Willard; one daughter and son-in-law, Aimee and Alan Aichholz of Attica; his mother, Mazie Coffey of Willard; four sisters, Brenda Malcolm of Columbus, Carol Emmons of Norwalk, Karen and Gary Wilson of New Haven, and Leah Coffey of Clyde; two brothers, Roger and Valerie Coffey of Phoenix, AZ and Ralph and Sharon Coffey of Shelby; a special aunt, Lucy Perry of Louisville, KY; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
He is preceded in death by his father, Dan Coffey; one sister, Sandra Coffey; two brothers-in-law, Roger Emmons and John Malcolm; and maternal and paternal grandparents.
Friends may call at the Secor Funeral Home in Willard on Monday, February 25, 2008 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, February 26, 2008 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Bart McKelvey officiating. A private burial service will be held at the Maple Grove Cemetery in New Haven, Ohio at a later date. Memorial expressions may be made to the family.
