Joy Lee (Bradford) Banville, age 93, past Plymouth area resident, passed away on Monday, April 15, 2024 at Embassy Nursing Home in Willard, Ohio. She was born on January 1, 1931 in Shelby, Ohio to the late John A. Bradford and Evelyn M. (Chapman) Bradford Buchanan.
Joy was a Plymouth resident the majority of her life where she was a member of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church. She was active in the Altar Guild, Church Choir and taught weekday church school. She was active with the Girl Scouts as a leader and with the Plymouth PTA. She had worked as a secretary receptionist for the Bachrach Company for a number of years. She enjoyed working in her flower garden, cooking and sewing.
With her marriage to Ray, they settled in Douglasville, Georgia as well as Auburndale, Florida. She came back to Ohio in 2019 following his passing.
Joy is survived by her brother, Jacque (Dee) Bradford; sister, Shirley Becker; daughter, Rene Phillips; son, Sid (Diane) Ream; two step children, Denise (Kenneth) Flinkstrom and Stephen Banville; four grandchildren, Michelle (Darek) Gentry, Steve (Carrie) Phillips, Nicole (Jacob) DeKam, and Sean (Erika) Ream; four step grandchildren, Joshua Plant (Chris Landry), Sarah (Jared) Aldrich, Kyle (Samantha) Banville, and Keri (Eric) Lloyd; eight great grandchildren; and five step great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Joy was preceded in death by her first spouse, Quentin R. Ream; second spouse, Raymond Banville; step father, Walter “Shorty” Buchanan; sister, Margaret (Joseph) Fedele; brother-in-law, Richard Becker; and nephew, Joe Fedele.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, May 2, 2024 at First Lutheran Church in Plymouth, Ohio at 3:30 p.m. with Pastor Jeremy Lambert officiating. Secor Funeral Home is honored to be handling the services for Joy.
