Jose Vasquez, Jr. age 80, former resident of Willard, passed away Friday, January 30, 2004 in the Ohio Veterans Home in Sandusky. Born January 5, 1924 in Alice, Texas to the late Jose Sr. and Felomenda (Maldonado) Vasquez he had been a Willard resident since 1953. Mr. Vasquez was a retired truck driver from John F. Stambaugh, had hauled produce for Burrma Farms and worked in masonary. He was a veteran of the US Army serving in the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign during WWII. He was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church and the American Legion.
He is survived by five sons and three daughters-in-law, Jose Jr. and Gabby Vasquez of Alice, TX; Oscar Vasquez of Geneva, IL; Daniel Vasquez of Perrysburg, OH; Donald and Denese Vasquez of Willard; Darrell and Maria Vasquez of Plymouth; three daughters and sons-in-law, Odilia and Adolio Esparza of Westminister, CA; Delia and Dallas Blackburn of Monroeville; Darlene and Guillermo Garcia of Plainview, TX; 31 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; two sisters, Antonia Franco and Aurora Serna both of Alice, TX; one brother Paulino Vasquez of Alice, TX; nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Vickie (Trejo) Vasquez; his second wife, Josephine (Nagel) Vasquez; one brother, Mauro Vasquez; a granddaughter, Angela Dawn Vasquez and an infant son.
Friends may call at the Secor Funeral Home in Willard on Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM, where the rosary will be recited at 7:45 PM. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church on Wednesday at 11:00 AM with Fr. Melvin Verhoff officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Willard.
