John Mike Costein, age 57, of Plymouth, Ohio went to be with the Lord on December 5, 2013 as a result of injuries from a motor vehicle accident. He was born on May 4, 1956 in Ashland, Ohio to Helen (Costein) Popa. He was a 1974 graduate of Willard High School and Pioneer Career and Technology Center with a certificate in Electronics. John was employed by Okamoto, in Sandusky, Ohio. He was gifted in finding solutions to difficult problems that he faced.
From an early age, John loved music, and could be found playing his guitar in his free time. He loved playing his guitar for others and with others. He was an avid Ohio State Buckeye and Browns fan, and followed both teams his whole life. Often, it was said, you could hear him encouraging and routing his teams on to a victory outside of his home. We know this weekend, in spirit; he will be cheering on his Buckeyes to a victory over Michigan State. He also loved his Jack Russell terriers, Maggie, Samson and Jennie.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of 31 years, Susan (Cline) Costein, who was the love of his life. John and Sue met on a blind date that was setup by a close friend, and it was an enduring and loving relationship. He is survived by his two sons, Mike Costein of Plymouth, and Dustin (Jaime) Costein of Bloomville, and his two granddaughters, Sydney, and Zoe, who he dearly loved. He is survived by numerous cousins and friends who will miss his quick wit, and caring heart. John Mike had a big heart and always found time to help anyone that was in need of assistance. He will be dearly missed.
Visitation will be Wednesday, December 11, 2013 from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the Secor Funeral Home in Willard, Ohio where the funeral service will be at 8:00 P.M. with Pastor Ricky Branham officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to Stein Hospice of Sandusky, Lifebanc, or to the donor’s choice. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.secorfuneralhomes.com.

I was deeply saddened upon hearing of John’s passing. I worked with John at Armstrong for over twenty years and cannot begin to express my grief. We shared many laughs together over the years and he will be truly missed. My prayers are with Johnny’s family and all of his friends, of whom there are many. His memory will be alive in my heart. To all who knew John’s kindness, generosity, sense of humor and happy-go-lucky personality, he will never be forgotten.
