John E. "Jack" Courter, age 88, of Plymouth, Ohio, passed away on Thursday, November 25, 2021 at Grady Memorial Hospital in Delaware, Ohio. He was born on August 17, 1933, in Morrow County, Ohio, to the late Paul L. and Mildred (Tischer) Courter. Jack graduated from North Robinson High School and was brick layer before he became a part owner of Crestline Wood Products in Shiloh, Ohio. He proudly served in the US Army and was stationed in Dachau in Germany. He was a member of the Plymouth American Legion and had his Pilgrim Degree in the Galion Moose Lodge. Jack was a long-time member of the First Lutheran Church in Plymouth and served on the Church board. He loved fishing on Lake Erie, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Corrine (Tupps) Courter, whom he married on May 13, 1956; children, Michelle (Jym) Quitter of Delaware, Ohio and Craig Courter (Connie Predieri) of Willard, Ohio; grandchildren, Michael Quitter (Sarai Park), Megan Quitter (Scott Letezia), Devan Quitter (Sean Foster), Cody Courter and Nathan Quitter; great-grandchildren, Izack, Adriahnna, Rosemary, Lotus, Logan, Dotti, Isla and Robert; sisters, Linda (Jerry) Laipply and Jean (John) Blackford; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a brother, Lynn Courter and a brother-in-law, Byron Tupps.
Visitation will be at Secor Funeral Home in Plymouth, Ohio on Wednesday, December 1, 2021 from 12:00 Noon until the time of his service at 3:00 PM. John walked into my life through my Mom (Judy Hartz). He was so loving and caring. He supported her and I in so many ways. In the past years I had a chance to connect with John a few times as he supported me on a mission trip, reached out to check on Mom when she had health issues or just to give Mom a present on her birthday. He cared for Mom even from a far and only filled her world with love. He will be missed but Heaven is rejoicing and he has gone to rest In His heavenly Fathers hands.”
