John A. Wiles, age 65, died unexpectedly at his home on Wednesday, October 28, 2009. He was born on January 7, 1944 in Willard, Ohio to the late Allen “Russ” and Helen (Colich) Wiles and was a Willard resident all of his life. He was a 1962 graduate of Willard High School and served in the Air National Guard. In the tradition of his grandfather and father, John was a lifelong farmer. He and his brother, Jim, were partners in Wiles Farms. John had been looking forward to restoring some antique farm tractors. He enjoyed fishing on Lake Erie, camping, spending time at the lake with his wife and a group of close friends, and riding his Can-Am Spyder. He also enjoyed following (Don) Graham Motorsports. He especially enjoyed spending time with his granddaughter, Hannah. John was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Willard and the Willard Rotary Club.
John married Jacki (Stotz) on February 24, 1979. In addition to his wife, John is survived by three sons: Jack (Holly) Wiles and Joe (Jenny Borgelt) Wiles of Willard, and Jared Wiles of Columbus, a granddaughter Hannah Wiles of Willard; two brothers, William (Micki) Wiles, Jim (Susan) Wiles, a sister, Judy (Tom) Oney, a sister-in-law Connie (Bob) Brown, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Friends may call at the Secor Funeral Home in Willard on Friday, October 30, 2009 from 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 31, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Willard with Reverend Brian Peltomaa officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Willard. Friends may send memorial contributions to Trinity Lutheran Church or the Willard Rotary Club.
