John A. Turson, age 86, of Plymouth, Ohio passed away Sunday, July 12, 2015 at the Hospice of North Central Ohio in Ashland, Ohio. He was born September 7, 1928 in Plymouth, Ohio to the late Roko and Mary (Spina) Turson. Mr. Turson was retired from GM in Ontario, Ohio after 34 years of service and was owner/operator of the J.T. Fur Company in Plymouth, Ohio. He was a member of the Plymouth United Methodist Church who enjoyed telling corny jokes, hunting, fishing, gardening, and most of all watching his children and grandchildren play sports. He was a veteran of the US Army having served in during the Korean Conflict. John was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.
He is survived by his wife, Marlene (Berberick) Turson whom he married July 3, 1954; son, Brad (Amy) Turson of Plymouth; two daughters, Gale (Scott) Wagner of Shelby; Becky Benfer (Scott Harris) of Plymouth; eleven grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; two sisters, Sylvia Higgins of Bellville; and Rosalie (Jim) Valentine of Mansfield; and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, and five sisters.
Visitation will be Thursday, July 16, 2015 from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. at the Secor Funeral Home in Plymouth, Ohio, where the funeral service will be Friday, July 17, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Linda Heinlen officiating. Burial will follow at the Greenlawn Cemetery in Plymouth, Ohio. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or to the Hospice of North Central Ohio. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.secorfuneralhomes.com
