Janet I. McKenzie, age 83, of New Haven, Ohio, passed away on Friday, December 11, 2020 at Blossom Nursing and Rehabilitation in Willard. She was born on November 27, 1937 in New Haven, Ohio, to the late Henry C. and Ruth Margaret (Slessman) Chapman. Janet was a member of New Haven United Methodist Church where she was a choir director and played the piano and organ for 65 years. She graduated from New Haven High School in 1955 and had worked at Shelby Business Forms and Langhurst Insurance Company. Janet enjoyed playing video games on her computer and playing the accordion. Her and her husband loved Sunday drives through the country side.
Janet is survived by her husband Gordon McKenzie whom she married on November 12, 1961; brothers, Bill (Beverly) Chapman of Plymouth and Gene (Pam) Smith of Willard; sister-in-law, Shirley (Bob) Gorham of Mt. Vernon, and nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a nephew, Chad Smith and a brother-in-law, Richard McKenzie.
For safety reasons, her funeral service and calling hours will be private by invitation only. Family and friends are welcome to watch Janet's funeral service live on the New Haven United Methodist Church Facebook page on Wednesday, December 16, 2020 at 11:00 AM. with Pastor Bob James officiating. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery in New Haven, Ohio. Memorial contributions may be made to Samaritan Purse Box thru the New Haven Methodist Church.
