Janet Ann Badertscher, 79, lifelong resident of New Washington, Ohio passed away on Saturday, December 18, 2021. She was born on May 28, 1942 to the late Levi and Lenore Badertscher. Janet was a New Washington High School graduate who went on to attend and graduate from Bluffton College with a Bachelor’s Degree.
Janet worked for the Mansfield Library for over 40 years. She loved reading books; if you asked her about a subject, she could tell you the book you need to check out at the local library to learn about it. She was a member of the New Washington Methodist Church.
She is survived by numerous cousins.
Family and friends are invited to attend a graveside service on Thursday, December 23, 2021 at 1:30 p.m. at Swamp Cemetery in New Washington. Online condolences can be left for the family by visiting www.secorfuneralhomes.com.

My husband and I worked with Janet at the library. Janet always pointed out great picture books and mysteries. She loved helping patrons, both children and adults, find books to meet their interests. Over time I remember her working on the book mobile and later at the Ontario branch. Janet touch many readers lives by sharing her love for reading.

Janet was a kind and intelligent librarian. She was also one of the first tutors in the Mansfield /Richland County Public Library's literacy program, volunteering her time and talents. She was a very sweet person. The world needs more people like Janet.

I worked with Janet on the bookmobile and later in the county dept. office. She loved working on the bookmobile and was dedicated to it and the children we served. I truly hope God has a bookmobile for her to work at in Heaven. She was a dear friend and I have missed her often after leaving Mansfield.
