James L. Dawson, age 70, resident of North Fairfield, Ohio passed away at his home on Monday, February 19, 2018 surrounded by his family. He was born on June 15, 1947 in Willard, Ohio to the late Lloyd and Lillian (Vance) Dawson. Mr. Dawson was a 1965 graduate of Willard High School and then was drafted into the US Army where he served nine months in the Vietnam War. He was an employee of Copperweld in Shelby where he retired after 46 years. He enjoyed woodworking and attending auctions, but most of all, Jim enjoyed following his grandchildren's horse shows and basketball games.
He is survived by his wife, Jorja (Farnwalt) Dawson who he married on August 1, 1969; two children, Juanita Lynn (Leonard) Myers of Plymouth and Jonathan (Brigette) Dawson of Willard; five grandchildren, Kimberly and Charles Myers; and Micah, Max and Mason Dawson; one brother, Ray (Shari) Dawson of Willard; as well as, several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by three brothers, Robert, Kenneth and Randall Dawson; and a nephew, Ryan Dawson.
Visitation will be held at the Secor Funeral Home in Willard, Ohio on Wednesday, February 21, 2018 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM, and from 10:00 to 11:00 AM on Thursday with the funeral service beginning at 11:00 AM with Pastor Bob Hudberg officiating. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery in New Haven, Ohio. Memorial contributions can be made to the Stein Hospice. Online condolences can be made at www.secorfuneralhomes.com
