James E. Honaker, age 78, resident of Willard, Ohio passed away on Friday, September 29, 2023 at his home, surrounded by his family.

He was born on April 5, 1945 in Honaker, Virginia to the late Clifford H. Honaker and Birdie M. (Rogers) Pulliam and had been a resident of Willard for most of his life.

James served his country in the United States Army for 7 years, earning an honorable discharge in 1971. In addition, he worked at and retired from Midwest Industries in Willard after almost 40 years.

He loved spending time with his family, especially in his "man cave". He also enjoyed gardening, working around the house, watching westerns, listening and dancing to bluegrass music, singing gospel songs, "jamming" with friends while playing musical instruments, and reminiscing about classic cars and the good old days. He also took great care in maintaining his yard.

Left to cherish his memory are his children, James D. (Missy) Honaker and Lisa M. Honaker; grandchildren, Amber (Nick) Robinson, Tyler J. Honaker (Mashona Durham), and Wyatt J. Honaker; several great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and special pet cat, Lucky.

In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his wife, Belvie (Hicks) Honaker, whom he married on June 3, 1978 and who passed away on January 13, 2023; son, Jason C. Honaker; brother, David H. Honaker; sisters Patricia L. and Linda C. Wilson; brothers-in-law Claude and Clyde R. Wilson; and nephews Ricky Wilson and David Scott Honaker.

James was well known throughout the community and will be deeply missed. He couldn't go anywhere without seeing someone he knew. He was easily recognizable by his signature scent of Jovan Musk and Elvis-like hairstyle.

Family and friends are invited to gather at Secor Funeral Home in Willard on Friday, October 6, 2023 from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Danny Hamilton officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Willard.

His family would like to thank Southern Care Hospice in Milan for their guidance and support during his journey home. Online condolences can be left for the family at www.secorfuneralhomes.com.

I remember Uncle Jim as a young boy and how he enjoyed playing his guitar for my Grandpa Hicks. He also played some bluegrass music during my Grandpa Hicks funeral which I will forever remember. He always seemed to be a very friendly and outgoing kind of person. He was mostly my Aunt Belvies best friend and I believe they are together again. Condolences to the Family.

I’m so sorry for the loss of Uncle Jim. Praying for the family. As a small kid I always though Uncle Jim was so dapper! He always dressed in a 3 piece suit, or at least had a vest on. He was always so handsome with his meticulously combed hair. And boy could he garden! To this day, I want a shed landscaped the way his was. It is so beautiful! Love you all. Sorry we can only be there in thoughts and prayers

So many memories of growing up with cousins Jimmy, Patty, Linda, and David. My mom, Jeanette, was Aunt Birdie’s baby sister. What fun we had when all the cousins gathered at Mamaw & Papa Roger’s house in Junction City, Ky. Jimmy was always the handsome older cousin with a kind heart for his younger cousins and made sure we were included in the games played in the big front yard. Though years and distance kept us from remaining close, I have fond memories shared with Jimmy. Fly high cousin! You are loved.
