James D. Cunningham, 96, of Plymouth, Ohio passed away on Monday, September 21, 2020, at his residence, surrounded by his family. He was born in Willard, Ohio, on March 12, 1924, to the late Guy and Pearl (Croninger) Cunningham.
James was a 1942 graduate of Plymouth High School and joined the work force at the US Postal Service directly following graduation. He wasn't there long before being drafted into the Army. When he returned, the US Postal Service honored his four years of military service, hired him back and he worked there until his retirement after over 30 years of dedication to his job.
An avid gardener, James had his own private greenhouse. He never sold anything he grew, he was always willing to give away his variety of plants, flowers and vegetables. He was also known for providing flowers to the ladies at the Plymouth Presbyterian Church, where he was a longtime member.
Left to cherish his memory are his children, Diane (Timothy) Roose, Janeane (Phillip) Hopkins, Kitty Cunningham and James D. (Charlotte) Cunningham II; three grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and sister, Carol Brooks.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Maxine Ream Cunningham; second wife, M. Deline Snyder Kennel; siblings, Guy Cunningham Jr., Evelyn Briggs, Thomas Cunningham and Donald Cunningham.
