James A. "ToJo" Bolen, 66, of Willard, Ohio passed away on Thursday, February 20, 2020 at his home, surrounded by his family. He was born on November 9, 1953 in New Castle, Pennsylvania to the late Mary Louise (Bolen) Slone.
Jim attended Rheba Bennett East Side School and Willard High School. He served in the Army from 1971 to 1973 as a Armor Crewman and Rank Commander; and was a Sharp Shooter with an M-16 Rifle and Expert with a .45 caliber Pistol. He received the National Defense Service Medal as a Sharp Shooter. He was a self employed contractor who worked on various construction jobs with local contractors. He was a member of the American Legion, Moose, Eagles and NRA.
An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, turkey shoots and going to garage sales. Going out to ride his 3 wheeler, taking a relaxing trip on his motorcycle or socializing with friends were favorite pastimes. Jim was a kind hearted, loving husband, dad and Paw who was truly devoted to his family. He loved being with his family and they will love him forever and always in their hearts.
Jim is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Susan (Steinmetz) Bolen; two daughters, Ashley (Geoffrey) Trimner and Kacie (Dustin) Day; three grandchildren, Brinn and Bristol Trimner and Braxton Day; siblings, Christine (Harold) Schodorf, Brenda Roark, Linda Riggs, William "Doc" Dickerson, Sharon (Randy) Dalton, Doug (Josie) Conley; many nieces and nephews; sisters-in-law, Sandy (Travon) Sexton and Debbie (Pat) Thompson; brother-in-law, Doug (Julie) Steinmetz; and mother-in-law, Ruth Joyce.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Louise Slone; father-in-law, Donald Steinmetz; and very best friends who were like family, Barney Fife, David Albright, and Thomas "Donut" Herndon.
Family and friends are invited to visit at the Secor Funeral Home in Willard, on Wednesday, February 26, 2020 from 10:00 a.m. until the time his funeral service at 2:00 p.m. Rev. Ricky Branham will officiate and burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Willard where military honors will take place.
