On December 6, 2022 J H (Jay) Barnett, 69, passed away in his home. J H did not know a stranger and those who knew him loved him and will miss him deeply.
54 years ago, J H found the love of his life, Maggie (Owens) Barnett and from that moment on they started their journey of a beautiful life together. J H was a proud father to Jason (Amanda) Barnett and Papa to Aiden & Adelyn Barnett. All whom were his pride and joy. He is also survived by two sisters, Shirley (Richard) Lutts of Westlake, Ohio and Ollietta (Dan) Mason of Tiffin.
J H was happiest at Cedarwood RV Park in Catawba Island on a hot summer day in his camping chair waving and smiling at everyone who walked by. You could also find him serenading everyone around the campfire. J H and Maggie loved to travel together. They loved to spend time with their grandkids and loved to follow them in all their different activities.
J H was born December 10, 1952 to Edna Mae Barnett and Ollie James Barnett. He attended and graduated from Willard High School, class of 1971. He worked for the City of Willard for 30 years before retiring and also served as a part time Auxiliary Officer for the Willard Police department. Following his retirement from the City of Willard, J H worked at Ace Hardware part time.
J H mourned the loss of many loved ones throughout his life: His parents, Ollie James and Edna Mae Barnett; brothers-in-law, Bart Owens, Joseph Owens and Max Jerry Martin; sisters-in-law, Beverly Martin, Peg Owens and Barbara Shaver.
Friends and family can gather at Secor Funeral Home in Willard, Ohio on Saturday, December 10, 2022 from 11:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. There will be a memorial service following the calling hours beginning at 3:00 p.m. with Dr. Ricky Branham and Bishop Greg Griffith officiating. At the conclusion of the memorial service, a Celebration of J H’s life and 70th Birthday will take place at the Willard Elks. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Wyatt’s Teal Team. Condolences can be made to the family by visiting www.secorfuneralhomes.com
