Helena “Lee” Brumbach Gast, age 75, of West Broadway, Plymouth, passed away Sunday, Dec. 5, 2004 in Plymouth, Ohio. She was born Sept. 18, 1929 in New York City, NY to the late Michael and Mary (Mileska) Petrohovich.
Lee lived in various locations of the U.S. with her first husband, D. Douglas Brumbach, who was a captain in the U.S. Airforce. She had resided in Plymouth since 1965 and was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. In the past, she was a member of the Garden Club at Kingwood Center and would arrange flowers for the altar of St. Joseph’s. For many years, Lee raised and showed champion Boxer Dogs and has always cared for stray animals. A keen birdwatcher, she knew where to go to see a specific kind of bird. She was also a member of the VFW Ladies Axillary, Owls Club and Elks.
She is survived by a sister-in-law, Sophia Piet of Canton and a nephew, Nicholas Piet of Doraville, GA; and her cat, Pepper, who graciously shared her home with Lee. She is preceeded in death by her first husband, D. Douglas Brumbach, her second husband, Robert Gast; her parents, Michael & Mary (Mileska) Petrohovich; and two brothers Daniel and Joseph Petrohovich (Piet).
A memorial service will be held at the St. Joseph’s Catholic Church on Wednesday, December 15, 2004 at 11:00 AM with Father Melvin Verhoff officiating. A luncheon will follow the service at the church. Burial will follow at the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Willard, Ohio. Secor Funeral Home in Plymouth, Ohio assisted the family with arrangements.
