Gerald Shoup, age 87, of Attica, passed away Monday, February 8, 2010 at the MedCentral Hospital in Mansfield, Ohio. He was born in Attica, Ohio on August 2, 1922 to the late Daniel and Minnie (Marquart) Shoup. He graduated from Attica High School in 1940. He was a longtime farmer and had worked at MTD in Willard.
He is survived by 2 daughters and a son-in-law, Kareen Barnett of Westerville, Ohio, and Deborah K. and Ron Wilkinson-Widman of Columbus, Ohio; 1 son and daughter-in-law, Kennard & Cyndi Shoup of Willard, Ohio; 8 grandchildren, Jaime Ramsey, Erin Wilkinson, Brian (Alicia) Shoup, Kendra Shoup, Craig Shoup, Scott Shoup, Hilary (Rod) Bowerman and Clay Barnett; one step-grandchild, Ryan Widman and five great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Lois (Hossler) Shoup, who he married May 20, 1945 and who died in 1992; one son, Dennis Shoup; one brother, Wilbur Shoup; one sister Mildred Bowersox and his parents
Visitation will be Sunday, February 14, 2010 from 2-5 P.M. at the Secor Funeral Home in Willard, Ohio. The funeral service will be Monday, February 15, 2010 at 11:00 AM at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Attica, Ohio, with Rev. Edward Hunker officiating. Burial will be at the Attica Venice Cemetery in Attica, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Bethlehem Lutheran Church.
