Geneva Cox, (Bedell) 89, passed away peacefully in Lakewood, Ohio on Tuesday, September 18, 2012 after being diagnosed with cancer less than one month ago. Geneva was surrounded by her family at the time of her passing.
She was born January 14, 1923 in Norwalk, Ohio to the late Leroy and Helen (Arnold) Bedell. She resided in Willard for close to 70 years. Geneva was quietly generous to many, helping those in need. She cooked and delivered lunch for the East Side School students in the 1940’s. She played the violin and piano, often serenading her family in her early years. Geneva’s father, Leroy S. Bedell, was an Ohio State Trooper killed in the line of duty when she only 13 years old.
She had many friends, who will attest she was a fun-loving person with a great sense of humor.
Geneva is survived by her son, Jeff (Joyce) Cox, her daughter, Jackie Cox, her grandchildren, Debra (Scott) Myers, Jeffrey Cox and Geoff (Kristen) Cox, her great-grandchildren, Ashley White, Kelsey White and Colten Myers, and her great-great-grandson, Jordan. She is also survived by her sisters Jean (Phil) Leak and Shirley Mack.
In addition to her parents, Geneva is preceded in death by her husband, Richard, her brother William J. Bedell and her sisters, Mary Wagner and Kay Sommers.
Friends may call at the Secor Funeral Home in Willard, Ohio on Friday, September 21, 2012 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM where the funeral service will be held on Saturday at 11:00 AM with Reverend Doug Beggs officiating.
