Gary L. Fletcher Sr., age 71 of Shiloh, Ohio passed away from cancer Tuesday, October 28, 2014 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born January 5, 1943 in Wayland, Kentucky to the late T.M. and Chloe (Davidson) Fletcher. Gary attended Wesley Evangelical Church in Shiloh, Ohio. He also enjoyed working in his yard, especially with his rose garden; he was an avid Cleveland and Ohio State fan, loved fishing and most of all spending time with his family. For five years he coached little league. He retired from Empire Detroit/AK Steel in 2001 as a general foreman.
He is survived by his wife, Marie (Shepherd) Fletcher, whom he married May 7, 1965; son, Mark Fletcher of Mansfield; 2 daughters, Tracy (Moses) Porter of Shiloh and Jill (Dan) Adams of Lexington; 4 grandchildren, Ryan Porter, Tricia Porter, Jackie Fletcher, AJ Adams; 5 great grandchildren; 3 brothers, Jack (Pat) Fletcher of Monroe, OH, Don (Pauline) Fletcher of NC, Phillip (Toni) Fletcher of Mansfield, OH; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a son, Gary L. Fletcher Jr. (2013), grandson, Christopher Fletcher (2013); brother, Raymond Fletcher; 5 sisters, Katherine McKim, Margene Moore, Faye Wagoner, Lowell Fletcher, and Phyllis Sjorberg; his father and mother-in-law, Troy and Virgie Shepherd.
Friends may call at the Secor Funeral Home in Plymouth, Ohio Friday, October 31, 2014 from 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM. Funeral services will be Saturday, November 1, 2014 at 10:30 AM at the funeral home in Plymouth with Pastor Brian Graham officiating. Burial will take place directly after at Mt. So sorry to hear about your loss. Gary was a classmate and a friend and such a good person…His family came first to him and how he loved all of you…You all are so lucky to have had him and I am sure his love and memories will be with you to help you through this time of sorrow……I always teased him about being my gentle giant of a friend.
