It’s a sad day for me- after having left my faith for 40 years I faced him in confession as a guest priest at my parish and he somewhat scolded me but most importantly when all was said and done, as I walked out the confessional he stopped me to say he would pray for me. I’ll never forget it and I’ve stayed with my faith because of his stern words. I wanted to find him to thank him but I discover today I’m a month too late. He made a difference in my life. Thank you Jesus for that small but grand moment.

Fr. Schill married us 25 years ago. He was retiring and felt he should allow the new parish Priest to perform our wedding, but I insisted and wrote him a lengthy heart-felt letter. We loved him and needed him to marry us. He conceded and we watch our wedding video every year on our anniversary, in part, to hear his amazing homily one more time. And my parents lived 2 houses from our Church. He would walk over to their bsck patio and visit with my Mom and Dad. Always meant so much to them. Then he drove from Bucyrus to Fremont to help surprise my husband at his his 60th birthday party. Such an endearing, holy man. Rest in peace dear Father Schill. We love you and are praying for you. I know you are praying for us and all on this side of Heaven.

Father Schill was the chaplain at Mercy Hospital when I worked there. A great chaplain he was. The patients and staff absolutely loved him. He was a very kind and gentle man. He was also a very good friend of my brother, Father Leyland who passed away in 2020. My sympathy to the family and rest in peace Father!

Father Schill loved family, genealogy, history, and people. Always had time to talk . Good attributes for a priest. A familiar face at family reunions where he graciously opened with prayer and a family blessing. Indeed our family has been blessed. We will miss your presence here. Praying you are hearing that sought after word, “well done, good and faithful servant.” Thank You , Lord, for the life of Father Schill.

RIP Father, I worked at Mercy Hospital in Toledo from ‘89-‘96 while Father was there. He was always available for the patients and staff. I have many fond memories of his masses in Mercy’s Chapel and of him providing ashes outside of the cafeteria on ash Wednesday.

Father was our backyard neighbor for close to 30 years before he moved to The Willows. We enjoyed many visits with him over the years. He always kept track of and inquired about our children and grandchildren, and they enjoyed taking a treat to him when they visited us. He was a kind and caring man. We miss him, but “such is life”.
