Earnest Martin, age 71, passed away on Tuesday, February 5, 2013 after a brief illness. He was born on February 7, 1941 in Knott County, Kentucky to the late Berlin and Marie (Slone) Martin.
Earnest was a kind loving family man who lived his life for his family and friends. In his last days his main concern was spending what time he could with his babies. He could often be found sitting outside his house, watching cars go by so he could wave at friends, and they in turn watched for him to be sitting there. He was loved and respected by all and his passing will leave a void in many hearts.
On June 6, 1964 Earnest married the love of his life, Nella Faye (Osborne) Martin and shortly after settled here in Ohio, becoming a life long resident of Plymouth. He has been a member of the Family of Love Old Regular Baptist Church since May 17, 1986. He worked at Mayflower in Norwalk, Ohio for thirty-seven and a half years, retiring in 2003. He especially enjoyed working in his garden, and working at the farmer’s markets helping to distribute produce where it was needed.
In addition to his wife he is survived by two daughters, Jennifer “Ginger” McKenzie (Don Spencer); and Libby Martin-Potts (Bill) both of Plymouth; four grandchildren, Jenni (Jeff) Tackett; Jacob (Meagan) Martin; Jayden and Jansen Potts all of Plymouth; six great grandchildren, Jovi, Jaci, Jeric and Jax Earnest Tackett; and Presley and Charlie Martin. He is also survived by four brothers, Harold Ray Martin of Tennessee; William (Gwen) Martin; Larry Martin; and Matt (Sharon) Martin all of Kentucky; four sisters, Berleen (Jack) Bowser of Fairborn, OH; Sandy (Harles) Gibson of Plymouth; Jewell (Kenny) Blair of Kentucky; and Karen (Jim) Jones of Kentucky; four sisters-in-law, Phyllis Burgette; and Jeanetta Osborne both of Willard; Sharon Sanders; and Carolyn Sue Prater both of Kentucky; a brother-in-law, Dannie Osborne of Ironton, OH; many nieces, nephews, close family and friends.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters, Geraldine and Beverly Martin; two brothers, Eddie and Ronnie Martin; a sister-in-law, Nancy Osborne; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Charles and Socie Osborne; two brothers-in-law, Jimmie Osborne and Ronald Burgette.
The family would like to extend their thanks and utmost gratitude to the Huron County Kidney Center for all their care and kindness, and to all the family and friends for all their prayers, support, thoughout this difficult time. We can never thank you enough.
Visitation will be held at the Little Rebecca Old Regular Baptist Church on Henry Road in Plymouth, Ohio beginning at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, February 6, 2013 with a service at 6:00 PM and continue until the funeral time of 11:30 AM on Thursday. Elders Delmas Hall and Paul Boggs will officiate. Burial will folllow in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Shiloh, Ohio. Online condolences can be made at www.secorfuneralhomes.com

Nella Faye, Ginger, Libby and especially Jacob, we could see the love he had for you over the years knowing you. Kenneth always enjoyed his talks and Kenneth James enjoyed his visits to your home with Jacob. Our prayers to all the Martin family. Memories live forever.
Precious in the eyes of the Lord is the death of His Saints. Though our hearts are broken Brother Ernie is enjoying a most peaceful sleep. Nothing will disturb him until that Blessed morning when God will take His children home. He was a special person to me & I was one of his favorite sisters. Couldn’t get him to say I was his favorite. I would settle for being one of them. He was special to Little Ruth. It is like we have lost a member. My heart aches for Nella Faye & the girls, but I pray the Lord will comfort all of you & always remember you can see him again. Heart of love
Charles & Joanne

Uncle Earn was a jolly, kind man. I’ve spent many days at the Martin household growing up, and you could count on Earn to make you smile/laugh. From scaring us with his teeth to telling us stories about playing the “dutch boy” for my mom and her sisters, he was always in the mood to smile. Trux Street will never be the same, not being able to wave or beep at Uncle Earn. He has left lasting memories with me as with so many in the family and community.
Love you all

Today, we lost a good friend and Heaven has gained another precious soul.So sorry for the
family of Earnest. As he has told us many times,Prayer can heal us from our sorrow and troubled waters. Bro. Earnie you will be missed by all that knew and loved you. Live on Bro. With the Lord, You will never experance death again. We pray this family can find peace with the help of the Lord Jesus Christ our savior.
I’ve only known Brother Ernie a few years. He was a member of The Family of Love Church and welcomed me with open arms when I joined there in 2009. It was so funny. My married name is Martin and we always had this joke between us. I would call him “Mr. Martin” and he would call me “Mrs. Martin”. People would ask us if we were related and we are….but not thru the Martins but thru the Mosleys. He looked so much like my great great (not sure how many greats) Uncle Clabe it was scary. I sure will miss my loving Brother. I hope to see him again someday.
Love and prayers,
Sister Vickie Martin

SO SORRY FOR YOUR LOSS NELLA FAYE.
It seemed so surreal when I looked at this. It took a while for the realization to hit me that it was Earn. He looks so good, just like I remember him before the sickness took over. I’m extremely thankful that we were able to spend some quality time with him when we visited. I can’t express how much we enjoyed it. It was amazing to see the love he had for his family, and the special way his family cared for him. Love you all and may God bless!

I can’t fathom the pain your family is going through but I also know what a special person you were to everyone. My family and I loved you!!! I loved the little peck at the door and whisper of your voice. And just like I promised you the last time you came to visit me, I promise I will NEVER forget you. This doesn’t even seem real to me. This is going to be hard to get use to and the summer will seem so long and boring because I would look forward to seeing you every year. Especially around my birthday. I know you are in Heaven watching over all of us humming and singing while you smile!! I only wish I could have seen you one more time. I love you Nella Faye and I hope you know that your family is very special to mine.
May God Bless This Family!!
LOVE ALWAYS, BRI
