Doyle Lee Salyer was born on Dec. 17, 1965 and passed away unexpectedly at age 48 on Nov. 6, 2014. Doyle was born to parents Glenn E. Salyer (Salyersville,KY) and Virginia (Genny) Lee (Gray) Salyer ( Wayland,KY). Doyle was born and raised in Willard,oh where he grew up in a tight-knit community on St. Rt. 99. Doyle was taught to love music from his dad Glenn who played in different bands over time as a guitarist. Doyle taught himself to play the guitar and followed his dad to “gigs” where he learned the ins and outs of music. At the young age of 14 Doyle performed in his first band alongside his dad. From then on Doyle continued to play in different bands as a lead guitarist. Most recently he was a member of the band 99 to Main with his good friends.
Gifted as he was at music, Doyle was also blessed with many beautiful children and grandchildren who he passed on his life lessons and love of music to. He enjoyed spending time with his kids and playing music while they sang, told stories, and laughed with each other. His smile, laugh, and charm will be sorely missed among his friends, family, and mostly his children and grandchilren.
Doyle is preceeded in death by his parents Glenn and Genny. His sister Denise Ellen Salyer, brother Dean Salyer, eldest son Christopher Lee Harrison-Salyer, and grandson Adyn James Salyer. He is survived by his children: Travis James Salyer and Emily Kay Salyer of Willard, Doyle (Bubby) Salyer II of Texas, Brad Carson Jones of Sandusky, Krista Jade Moore, Jordan Denise Salyer, and Logan Glenn Salyer of New Washington. His grandchildren Kendyll Marie Salyer, Jonah Christopher Elliott Salyer, Ellie Ann Jones, and Lilymae Denise Jones.
Services will be held at Secor Funeral Home in Willard, Ohio on Tuesday Nov.11, 2014 from 1:00-3:00 PM and 5:00-7:00 PM. A memorial service will follow at 7:00 PM with Reverend Ricky Branham officiating. A private burial will be held at a later date. The family asks that in lieu of flowers donations may be made to Secor Funeral Home to help with expenses. www.secorfuneralhomes.com
