Dorothy J. Owens, age 91, resident of Willard and most recently of Crawfordsville, IN, passed away on Saturday, March 29, 2008 in Williamsburg Health Care in Crawfordsville, IN. She was born on June 7, 1916 to the late Jesse and Mary (Stoll) Durbin and had been a resident of Willard most of her life. Mrs. Owens was a LPN for the Willard Hospital. She later worked at and retired from the Pioneer Rubber Company in Willard. She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Willard and a member of the Senior Citizens- 60 Plus in Willard. She also was a member of the American Legion Post #72 and a member of the Moose Lodge #6 of Crawfordsville, IN. She enjoyed bingo, jigsaw puzzles, needle crafts and most of all, being with her family and friends.
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Barton L. “Butch” and Louise Owens of Willard and Rodney C. and Diane Owens of Harrisonburg, VA; one daughter and son-in-law, Vicki K. and Dennis Keefer of Crawfordsville, IN; 6 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Rodney F. Owens; twin brother and sister-in-law, Donald J. and Kathryn Durbin; her parents, Jesse and Mary C. (Stoll) Durbin; two half sisters, Marie Swope and Rose Piper; one half brother, Carl W. Burk; and a great grandson, Nicholas Owens.
Friends may call at the Secor Funeral Home in Willard on Tuesday, April 1, 2008 from 5:00 – 8:00 PM. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, April 2, 2008 at 10:30 AM with Rev. Brian Peltomaa officiating. Burial will follow at the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Willard.
