Dorothy Marie Blum, age 93, of New Washington, OH, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 2, 2024 at her home surrounded by her loving family.  She was born on December 2, 1930 in Crawford County, OH to the late Peter and Kathryn (Krantz) Weaver. She married Norbert G. Blum on September 17, 1955 and he preceded her in death in 2003. Dorothy was an active member of St. Bernard Catholic Church and the Rosary Altar Society in New Washington where she served in so many ministries. Her strong faith and acts of service were an inspiration to many. She was also a proud graduate of St. Rita Hospital School of Nursing and worked as a RN at Shelby Memorial Hospital for 45 years. Dorothy loved nursing and taking care of people. Her life revolved around family, church, and people in need. Dorothy and her husband Tubby had generous spirits and instilled those values in their family. She enjoyed gardening, knitting, crocheting, reading, and watching Ohio State and the Cleveland Indians.

Dorothy is survived by 6 children: Joan (Bruce) Alge, John (Jani) Blum, James "J.J." (Paula) Blum, June Blum, Karen (John) Bonen and Norbert C. Blum; grandchildren, Dr. Kara (Brad) Predmore-Smith, Matthew (Sara) Predmore, Jennifer Blum (Michael Adkins), Jacob Blum (Mindy McKenzie), Jalissa (Austin) Markwell, Kelsey (Kyle) Clark, and Lindsey Blum; great grandchildren, Keagan and Nora Predmore-Smith, Kenna and Mallachi Predmore, Gabriel Adkins, Melanie Blum, Jayden and Boone Markwell, Emery, Colton and Brynn Clark.

In addition to her parents, Dorothy is preceded in death by her husband, Norbert Blum; sisters, Agnes Cordrey and Eileen Cochran; son-in-law, Rick Predmore; and great grandchild, Evelyn Adkins.

Visitation will be held on Monday, April 8, 2024 at the Secor Funeral Home in New Washington from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. with the rosary recited at 8:30 p.m. Her funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, April 9, 2024 at St. Bernard Catholic Church in New Washington at 11:00 a.m. with Fr. Steve Blum, Fr. Ron Schock, and Fr. Evarist Miku officiating. Burial will be held at a later date at St. Bernard Catholic Cemetery in New Washington.
