Dorothy Lee Criddell, 83, of Dayton, Ohio passed away on Thursday, February 14, 2019 at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton. The second of eight children, she was born on August 16, 1935 in Willard, Ohio to the late Christopher Columbus and Ida Mae (Johnson) McKinney. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brothers, Albert and George McKinney.
Dorothy is survived by her children, David Lee Criddell Sr., Drusilla Lynne Criddell Dickerson and spouse, Daryl Dickerson, and Dorinda Leigh Criddell; grandchildren, David Jr., Anita, Annette, Davon, April, Brandon, Bryson, Brenten, Deirdre, Deandre, Michael and Aaron; great grandchildren, Ashley, Cynthia, Herman, Jocelyn, Joseph, Madison, Kristen, Kristopher, Myles, Mallory, Cam'ron, Daya, Ethan and Aaliyah; siblings, Nina Jarrett and spouse, Edgar Jarrett, Christopher McKinney and spouse, Loretha McKinney, Geraldine McKinney, Janice Love and spouse, Willie Love, and Margaret McKinney; nieces and nephews: Lamar McKinney, Greg McKinney, Amanda Neth, Shelley McKinney, Keith McKinney, Michael T. McKinney, Gennetta Gibson, Theresa McKinney, Albert McKinney Jr. & Hamilton McKinney.
Dorothy graduated from Willard High School, Class of 1953, before obtaining her first job at the Shelby Depot. Dorothy received two associates degrees from Sinclair Community College: one in Business & one in Computer Science. After working 40 years as a Computer Programming Analyst she retired from Wright Patterson Airforce Base in Dayton, Ohio. Her hobbies included bowling, bridge and collecting porcelain moments. Viewed as the matriarch of her family, she loved and cared for everyone as a daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, auntie, friend and neighbor.
Family and friends may call on Saturday, February 23, 2019 from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 1:00 p.m. at Grace United Methodist Church, 108 W Maple St., Willard.
