D. Helen Kooken, age 79, of Willard, Ohio passed away Monday, August 19, 2013 at the Stein Hospice in Sandusky, Ohio. She was born April 6, 1934 in Monarat, Virginia to the late Walker Mallon Dalton and Malinda Alvertie (Mays) King.
She is survived by 3 children, Linda (Ike) Shinneman of Simpsonville, S.C., Carl (Michelle) Kooken Jr. of Willard and Scott Kooken of Willard; 9 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild; 2 brothers, Jay (Becky) Dalton of Shelby and Mallon Fred (Joanne) Dalton of Willard; sister, Faye (Bill) Gullett of Willard; many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Carl E. Kooken Sr.; daughter, Carol Ann Kooken; parents, Walker Mallon Dalton and Malinda Alvertie (Mays) King; 2 brothers, Bill and Gene Dalton.
Visitation will be Friday, August 23, 2013 from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M. at the Secor Funeral Home in Willard, Ohio, where the memorial service will be Friday at 11:00 A.M., with Chaplain David Detwiler officiating. There will be a graveside service to follow at the Greenwood Cemetery in Willard, Ohio. Memorial contributions may be made to Stein Hospice in Sandusky, Ohio. I am deeply sorry about your loss. My grandpa died last Wednesday so I know how hard it is, but everyone keeps telling me he is in a better place so I am giving you the same advice. She is in a better place and you will all meet her again someday. Amber I am here for you sweetie just like you have been helping me through my loss.
