Donald R. Truex, age 87, resident of Shiloh, Ohio passed away on Monday, September 24, 2012 in the Crystal Care Center Nursing Home in Mansfield, Ohio. He was born on November 14, 1924 in Richland County, Ohio to the late Olney and Mary (Mann) Truex and had been a Shiloh resident most of his life. Mr. Truex was a retired truck driver having owned and operated his own truck for over 30 years. He hauled steel for several trucking firms including Don Coffey Trucking and Yellow Freight, and retired from Rebman Truck Service. Donald also was a livestock farmer raising market hogs. After retirement, he and his wife provided transportation for the mennonite and amish communities.
He is survived by one son, Michael (Mary) Truex of Crestline; two daughters, Rebecca Myers of Shiloh; and Joanne (John) Rand of Greenwich; 14 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; and one brother, Olney “Bud” Jr. (Nella) Truex of Ontario.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife, Clara “Teddy” (Coon) Truex in 2002; two sons, Thomas James and Donald Jr. Truex; and four sisters.
A graveside service will be held at a later date in the Mt. Hope Cemetery in Shiloh, Ohio. Memorial contributions can be made to the Special Needs Children 7837 Planktown North Road Shiloh, Ohio 44878. Secor Funeral Home in Plymouth, Ohio assisted the family with arrangements.
