Donald Kent Murray, 70, Hillcrest Drive, Willard, went to his heavenly
home and his beloved wife on Wednesday, September 9, 2021 after a three
week battle with COVID pneumonia.
Donald was born on March 12, 1951 in New London to Winifred (Cook)
Murray Buderer and Donald Eugene Murray. He is a graduate of New London
High School. After graduation, Donald enlisted in the United States Army
and served in Germany as a SSG/E6. Donald retired from the Ohio National
Guard.
When he returned home, he went into police work. Donald was a police
officer in Willard and was a reserve deputy with the Huron County
Sheriffs Office.
Donald and Jean served as police officers together for the Wakeman
Police Department and the Greenwich Police Department. He eventually
retired from RR Donnelley & Sons in Willard.
A lifetime member of the National Rifle Association, Donald was an
expert marksman. He was also a licensed pilot.
A very proud Scotsman, Donald was a member of the Murray Clan Society of
North America and visited Blair Castle in Scotland, the clan home.
Donalds legacy is left to his son, Daniel (Heather) Murray; three
grandchildren; sisters Cynthia Murray Wilson (Kenny) and Denise Sowards;
brother Timothy Murray (Eva); his sister-in-law Jane Ernsberger
(Edward); his brothers-in-law, Raymond (Dutch) Fitzwater (Laurie) and
Lee Fitzwater (Debra) and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Jean whom he married on
St. Valentines Day in 1975; his parents and his in-laws, Raymond and
Irene Fitzwater.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, September 15 at the Secor
Funeral Home, 202 W. Maple St., Willard from 1 to 3 p.m. The funeral
service will be take place at 3 p.m. with Pastor Jeff Shaull officiating.
Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Willard with full military honors.
Donald asked that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Willard
Firefighters Association. They can be left at the funeral home or sent
to the Willard Fire Department, 425 Fort Ball Rd., Willard, Ohio 44890.
