Donald Dean Shirey, age 68, of Willard, Ohio passed away on Wednesday, March 19, 2025 at St. Vincent Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. He was born on March 18, 1957 in Willard, Ohio to Gerald A. and Margaret L. (Wingert) Shirey.
Don was 1975 graduate of Willard High School, after graduation he went on to the United State Navy and proudly served our country for 4 and a half years. After he served our country, he began working at CSX Railroad where he worked for 30+ years. Don was the leading knight at the Willard Elks and a member of the Plymouth American Legion. He loved to read and was an avid golfer, especially at his home course, Woody Ridge. Don loved to travel with his wife Kristina, and especially going on trips to Canada.
He is survived by his wife, Kristina (Glorioso) Shirey who he married on June 8, 2013; son, Jake Shirey; daughter, Kara (Brandon) Wonderly; stepdaughter, Brooke (Ryan) Cox; grandchildren, Destinee Willison, Braelynn Cox, Ellie, Emilee and Everette Wonderly; mother, Margaret Shirey, siblings, Paul (Hope) Shirey, Tom (Gladys) Shirey, Beth (Ed) Phillips and Chris (Jeff) Belmont; several nieces and nephews and three Jack Russel’s; Zuma, Moxie and Putter.
Don was preceded in death by his father, Gerald A. Shirey and son, Steven Shirey; one Jack Russel, Weeze.
Calling hours will be on Monday, March 24, 2025 at Secor Funeral Home in Willard, Ohio from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Don’s Mass of Christian Burial will be on Tuesday, March 25, 2025 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church at 11:00 a.m. with Fr. Chris Mileski officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Willard, Ohio. Online condolences can be made to Don’s family by visiting www.secorfuneralhomes.com

I am so sorry to hear this. I got to know Don very well when I was growing. I spent a lot of time at the Shirey’s house. I still remember how excited Beth would get when he was coming home on leave from the military. He was a great guy and treated me like one of the family.
