Dolores graduated from North Fairfield High School. Following school, she had worked for the phone company in Norwalk and later worked for the original hospital in Norwalk. After her working career, she married her husband, Fred, and started their family. While raising their family, Dolores and Fred farmed together in the North Fairfield area. Dolores was a member of Steuben Church of The Master, where she was in the past part of the Women's Federated Circle and for many years, church deaconess and church librarian. She was also known as the "Cookie Lady" for VBS.
Those left behind to cherish her memory are her daughter, Jan (Dale I.) Smith; a grandson, Jeremiah (Alisha) Huffman; a great granddaughter, Claire Huffman; a sister and brother-in-law, Fran (Malcolm) Smith; a half-brother, Robert (Mary) Mitchell; and many extended family members.
In addition to her parents, Dolores was preceded in death by her husband, Fred H. Lockyer; a son, Steve Lockyer; and her grandparents whom raised her as their own, Jennie and Fred Mitchell.
