Daniel O. Bores, age 87, resident of Rural Monroeville, passed away on Tuesday, January 22, 2008 at the Norwalk Memorial Home. He was born on February 9, 1920 in Bismark, Ohio to the late Benjamin and Alice (Dannemiller) Bores and had been a resident of the Willard and Monroeville areas most of his life. He was a self employed business man and a farmer. He graduated from Willard High School. He was a US Marine serving during World War II. He was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Willard. He was a member of the Willard American Legion, Willard VFW and the Willard Elks. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and golfing.
He is survived by his wife, Roberta I. “Bobbie” (Sampson) Bores, whom he wed on April 25, 1941; four sons, Michael Bores of Plymouth, Thomas and Becky Bores of Monroeville, David and Anna Bores of Willard, and Richard and Connie Bores of Willard; two daughters, Linda and Richard Rinehart of Port Clinton, Ohio, and Patricia Adams of Palm Harbor, FL; son-in-law, Richard Armatrout of Tampa, FL; 14 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; a sister, Leota Haupricht of Willard; a brother, John and Dortha Bores of Willard; sister-in-law, Lillian Bores of Willard; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin and Alice (Dannemiller) Bores; a daughter, Karen Armatrout; 2 brothers, Herbert and Harold Bores; and a sister, Alice Dayka.
Friends may call at the Secor Funeral Home in Willard on Friday, January 25, 2008 from 2:00 – 4:00 & 6:00 – 8:00 PM. Funeral mass will be held on Saturday, January 26, 2008 at 10:30 AM at the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church with Father Stanley S. Szybka officiating. Burial will follow at the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Willard with Military Rites. Memorial expressions may be made to the Stein Hospice or to the donor’s choice.
