Clarence F. Leonhart, age 100, resident of Tiro, passed away Sunday evening, March 28, 2004 in Crestwood Care Center in Shelby following a short illness. Born May 9, 1903 to the late Franklin and Emma (Marquart) Leonhart, he had been a Tiro/New Washington resident his entire life. During his lifetime Mr. Leonhart was a farmer, worked for the Farm Bureau and was the owner and operator of Leonhart Gas and Oil Co. He was a long time member of the St. John’s Lutheran Church in New Washington, and enjoyed fishing on Lake Erie and in Florida.
He is survived by two daughters, Beatrice June Flegm of Bonita Springs, FL; and Eleanor Jean Stephan of Columbus; five grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and other relatives. He was preceded in death by wife, Marie (Croy) Leonhart; one daughter, Jane Fike; and one brother.
Graveside services will be held Wednesday, April 14, 2004 at 11:00 AM at the St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery in New Washington with Pastor Joseph Bartczak officiating. Memorial expressions can be made to the St. John’s Lutheran Church, 203 E. Mansfield, New Washington, OH 44854. Secor Funeral Home in New Washington assisted the family with arrangements.
