Charles Edward Kiess Sr., 81, of New Washington, Ohio passed away on Sunday, January 3, 2021 at his son’s residence in Fremont, Ohio. He was born on January 12, 1939 in Leesville, Ohio to the late J. Edward and Florice (Green) Kiess.
Charles worked as a tradesman for Timken Co. for 20 years before starting his own restaurant, Cranberry Inn. He also worked for Crawford County in the maintenance department and was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church in New Washington.
He is survived by his sons, Charles Kiess of Fremont and Steven Kiess of New Washington; grandchildren, Nikole Kiess, Jasper Kiess and Danny “DJ” Paramore; three great grandchildren; sisters, Miriam (Ben) Kensinger and Linda (Vanasdale) Rowan Colwell; sister-in-law, Janice Kiess; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Araminda Kiess, who passed away on May 20, 2015; daughter, Heidi Marie Paramore; brother, Wayne Kiess; and sisters, Marilyn (Leon) Hord and Carol (Bob) Grove.
Family and friends are invited to visit at the Secor Funeral Home in New Washington on Friday, January 8, 2021 from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at St. Bernard Catholic Church in New Washington at 11:00 a.m. with Father George W. Mahas officiating. Burial will follow at St. Bernard Catholic Cemetery in New Washington. Memorial contributions can be made to St. Bernard Catholic Church or the donor’s choice.
