Burton L. Deppen, age 86, of rural Willard, passed away on Monday afternoon, February 4, 2008 at his home after a life of love, laughter and hardwork.. He was born on November 28, 1921 in Tiffin, Ohio to the late Alvin and Alta (Smith) Deppen. He served during WWII in the US Army from 1942 to 1946 in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater. Mr. Deppen was a farmer his entire life and had worked and retired from MidWest Industries in Willard. He enjoyed farming, mowing his lawn, his family and riding his gator.
He is survived by his wife, Catherine E. (Kilgore) Deppen whom he married on March 15, 1947; five children and spouses; Betty Jamison; Robert and Denise Deppen; Ruth and Jerry Draper; Joan and Mark Courtright; Debbie and Dennis Armitage all of Willard; seventeen grandchildren, Tonya; Heather; Missy; Shelly; Tim; Ardana; Candice; Carly; Tina; Angel; Kelly; Jimmy; Casey Jo; Jeremy; Kyle; Joshua and Sheri Kay; ten great grandchildren; sister, Helen Hassinger of Monroeville.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by a son, Carl; a son-in-law, Larry Jamison; and a granddaughter, Amy Renee Jamison; seven brothers and four sisters.
Friends may call at the Secor Funeral Home in Willard on Wednesday, February 6, 2008 from 4:00 – 8:00 PM. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Thursday at 11:00 AM with Rev. George Lewis officiating. Burial will follow at the Greenwood Cemetery in Willard. Memorial expressions may be made to the Community Hospice of Tiffin.
