Bridget E. Ankney, age 83, resident of New Washington, passed away on Saturday March 20, 2004 in MedCentral Mansfield Hospital following a short illness. She was born on Janurary 12, 1921 to the late Carl and Anna (Dougherty) Volk and had been a New Washington resident since 1947. She was a housewife. She was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church in New Washington where she was a member of the Altar Rosary Society. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Charles Mann of Tiro; three grandchildren and spouses, Ted and Denise Mann of North Fairfield, Abbie and Mike Adams of Attica, and Amanda Mann of Shelby; three great grandchildren, Morgan, Brandon and Lauren; one brother, Jack Volk of Galion; one sister, Dorothy Labeka of Lehigh Acres, Florida; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She is preceded in death by her husband, Frederick N. Ankney; her parents, Carl and Anna Volk; and one brother, Paul “Lefty” Volk.
Visitation will be held on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the Secor Funeral Home in New Washington. The funeral mass will be Tuesday at 11:00 AM at the St. Bernard Catholic Church in New Washington with Father Robert Dendinger officiating. Burial will be at the St. Bernard Catholic Cemetery in New Washington. Memorials may be made to the St. Bernard Endowment Fund or to one’s choice.
